Backpack prep for college: Countdown to College

This week I thought I would finally finalize the packing of my backpack for college meaning what am I going to bring to classes since my class schedule is a full day Tuesdays and Thursdays (full day simply meaning 10 am to 6 pm for classes but then I do need to incorporate walking time into that as well so I will probably be leaving my home at 9:15 am and not returning till closer to 7 pm).

I knew what the basic stuff I was going to bring with me which would be college textbooks (more to come on them in a later post), a binder (which in this case means a 3 ring product that holds hole punched papers, divider paper, and even a binder pouch to hold pens/pencils), pens, and a waterbottle. But beyond that I had not thought of what else to bring until I started to go through my stuff that I had on hand and expanded it to include a whole lot more since I am a person that does like to be prepared for basically anything so bad weather, medical stuff, hungry pangs, sewing emergencies, and the such like.

So when I did get ready, I really had nothing particular in mind of what to bring but I did start with a few cosmetic cases that were already bundled and then took everything out and said okay, what should I keep in this case and what should I take out and what to add into it. The cosmetic case was simply a feminine/braces case since I used to have braces for 2 years. I kept the feminine supplies, took out the braces supplies of gum brushes and wax, and then added a sewing kit (I have two on hand amazingly), a fingernail kit (I have two of those as well in my belonging), and bandages. I had another case that was full of miscellaneous items that I took out all and just put back in, lotion, lip balm, Kleenexes, a small container of Aspirin, Tylenol, Vitamin C, and one vitamin E and an American Red Cross card that declares my blood type (which is A Negative).

Prepping for bad weather or colder weather meant finding a pair of gloves, an umbrella, and a hat thing that could cover my ears (not a full hat mind you nor do I really know what it would be called other than possible a scarf).

Prepping for medical meant the usual first aid items like bandages and alcohol swabs and medications but also two other items I have on hand from my nursing days, a stethoscope and blood pressure cuff (the manual type).

I have a small bag of cellphone charger and headphones (which are in the blue bag that says Google+). If I need to add any more "wire" stuff, it would be added to this ziploc bag.

I have a solid plastic container that has a pad of sticky notes in it, a pen, scissors, a flash drive, tape, and a permanent marker. I thought I would talk briefly about a flash drive. Over the years, I have collected flash drives (not all were paid for since some were free from different college vendors) and I decided I would go through all the flash drives on me that I was not sure what was on them (since I have 6 flash drives but two of them have specific files on them or a specific purpose and then I have one flash drive that is still in its package so unopened). Two of the flash drives I checked out yesterday were basically blank but since it did come from a college vendor, it did have some preinstalled stuff on it but does not take up much space. One of them I will bring with me to college since it is 8GB with that space available (except maybe it is only like 7.45GB free). One of the flash drives I checked out yesterday actually was interesting to see what was inside because it was my assignments from my previous college plus some music playlists.

Other miscellaneous items I now have in my bag that I have in random spots or not bundled with anything else would be small tool kit on a keychain, hand sanitizer, a spare bag just in case I need it (it's the size of a probably small knapsack), small hair brush, toothbrush kit. colored pens, a small notebook that only has like 5 pages in it, another writing pad that is a bit fancy, and a day planner. Out of all those items, probably none of them are really important except the day planner which will be a constant tool in the classroom and out of the classroom for writing down due dates for assignments, other important things I need to write down such as if I want to keep my professor's information somewhere I would probably use the day planner since I reckon I will be using this often to keep track of dates. As you can tell, I enjoy bringing stuff with me and I imagine if I ever did a road trip or airplane trip so a vacation, many of these things would show up with me since I enjoy being prepared.

Last but not least I have a snack bag which contains two granola bars, mints, gum, and one cough drop.
